SEO Path to SUCCESS: How did we grow organic traffic by 3.000% and increase the Portugal Homes company revenue five times in less than a year!
When Portugal Homes, a prominent real estate company specializing in investment properties, sought to expand its global reach and improve online visibility, they hired us. Our mission was clear: to enhance their digital presence, drive targeted traffic, and increase lead generation through a robust and data-driven SEO strategy.
Portugal Homes offers a wide range of properties for sale in Portugal, catering to international investors seeking lucrative real estate opportunities. The company’s target audience spans across continents, making it imperative for their website to rank highly on search engines globally, particularly in competitive markets such as the UK, USA, and Asia.
At that moment, the Company was at the bottom of the list of organic competitors in the SERP and by organic traffic on a local and global level.
The first thing we had to do was to create a very deep and detailed web audit, identify all issues and problems with the website, and create the report in a simple Excel table to keep data in order and track future progress.
Phase 1: Indexation
The first thing that had to be done on the website was to define the proper SEO strategy fix the indexation issues on the website and start implementing the findings. The result did not let me wait for so long. After fixing more than 1500 indexation issues fixing all missing pages, creating the sitemap, and submitting it to the search engines, more keywords have appeared in the SERP already next week.
Phase 2: Technical Factors
Now when the website was able to be indexed and basic indexation issues were solved, the next step was fixing the technical part of the website.
The web audit has identified over 15k pages with excessive links, almost 200 too-big pages, hundreds of broken images, more than 35k empty image alt tags, 15k pages with duplicate meta titles and meta descriptions, approximately 3k pages with empty meta descriptions, and so on. The website was in total mess, but a serious approach and a good plan, following the strict steps were needed to achieve the goal.
This process has taken several months to be accomplished and has resulted in the 13.000% growth of new indexed keywords.
Now website has thousands of keywords in SERP and we had a good starting point to do some quality work.
In this phase I have also paid special attention to the page speed, improving the Page speed factors, optimizing thousands of images, and doing other things that had to be done.
90% of the technical issues were already solved in this phase and we were ready to move to the next stage.
Phase 3: Content SEO
At that moment, the company website was moved from the bottom of the competitor list, sitting in the middle of it, with a growing trend, beating some competitors who were long on the market.

In this phase, the website already had thousands of unique visitors and hundreds of thousands of impressions in SERP.
For all this time, the content colleague was creating great articles for the website, but they didn't perform well.
Together with working on Content SEO on all articles, she was creating in this phase, I concentrated on the other pages too, setting up properly the page titles and Meta descriptions, and also helping her to properly write articles, instructing her how to properly use keywords in her work, and during the following month's I was grateful to her listen to the instructions, because of it saved me so much work, and was resulted in improving the bounce rate, which has has fallen from 90% to only 43%, which has significantly increased the number of visitors to a website
We were spending a lot of time working together, and sole, where I was spending a lot of time working on some specific pages, which were pillar pages of the website, setting titles and meta descriptions, sometimes multiple times during this phase, tasting and doing over until I get the proper result.
Also, the important part of everyday work in this phase was working with content keywords in SERP.
Analyzing the industry competitors and building an SEO strategy as close to competitors as possible, overreaching them. That was the key to success!
The outcome of this step was reaching a half-million impressions monthly, just by properly setting up the keyword strategy and highlighting the most important keywords on every single page.
From that moment the properly optimized pages were leading thousands of organic clicks each of them, without any additional work.
Also, in this phase, the company was saving approximately 50-60 thousand euros on paid advertising, because of excellent organic traffic.
At this point, the company website was already being found by almost any search term from the website, and most of the positions on any important search term were between 1st and 3rd in SERP.
Phase 4: Bounce Rate
Despite the already pretty big visibility in search engines, and significantly improved organic traffic, the conversion on the website was very low and the bounce rate on the website was still very high, and was approximately at 92%, from the beginning of work on the website.
Digging deeper into analytics and the server logs, I have found that the bounce rate is extremely high in the segment of the first 30 seconds on a website.
In this step the needed changes were made to the website, eliminating the high bounce rate, and lowering it to 60%, which has promptly resulted in better leads.
During the whole time, a detailed and deep SEO strategy was provided and the website was continuously improving, resulting in 130k qualified organic leads and over one million monthly impressions only in Google.
The company moved to the TOP of the competitor's list by the organic traffic, beating even the strongest competitors who were looking unbeatable at the beginning.
The outcome was a growth of organic traffic by 3.000% and a growth of company revenue by five times for Portugal Homes website, in less than one year.
For the whole time of my engagement with this client, the keyword visibility has grown for 25%.
